start ~

I immediately think of the flower beds along the front of our home, how they look after some recent TLC (with my mom's expertise), and the transplanted flowers that are starting to bloom.

I think of the two plants in particular that were laid flat by the boys who painted our house last month, and of my disappointment seeing them for the first time crushed on the mulch; I didn't think they would perk back up, let alone survive.

A few weeks later, someone announced after coming in from mowing the grass that the flowers were back. Yes, they were back, and I was without words . . .  How were they not broken and withered?

Because God is the giver of new life.

And when we feel crushed, beaten down, hopeless, like there's no way we can get back up, — be it from circumstances, or our own shortcomings — it is not the end. In Christ, we are forgiven, we are made new and made whole for His glory, and we are more than conquerors.

In Christ, we are saved. And we find life.

  1. Isn't life surprising sometimes, taking turns we completely did not expect. I'm glad your flowers were given a second chance.
