"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."
      ~ John 4:24

As my former pastor often explained, worshiping in "spirit and truth" means worshiping authentically {coming to Him as we are and submitting to Him} and accurately {recognizing His greatness and who He is}.

It has nothing to do with me, whether I lost it more than a few times over the past week {or day, or morning}, whether I feel "holy" at the moment. Because it is all about Him, and He meets us right where we are, smack in the middle of the grime and dirty dishes and worn out bodies and aching hearts.

And if He meets us right where we are, we can worship Him here, in this hour, in this mess.

  1. Whoa- side by side today at FMF and we are speaking such similar words. Love a little confirmation!

  2. So true, Kelly. Like any relationship, worship should never be based on fleeting feelings. God is good all the time. He longs to be gracious. Praying for you this week.
