Near

While at work this morning, I overhead a song playing with the lyrics, "God is watching us from a distance".

It seemed so ironic to hear words like that, knowing they are so unbiblical, so contradictory to the nature of our God, who desires a right relationship with us.

Ironic especially having read through Romans 8 this morning, that we are God's children {...but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father"} and Jesus is interceding before the Father on our behalf {...He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God} and we're recipients of His immeasurable love {...neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord}.

Ironic especially knowing the results of the presidential election, knowing this family isn't the only one wondering what the next four years hold, and how bad it will be . . .

Yet, there can be peace knowing God is not simply watching from out there, but rather everywhere present and in everything sovereign.
